I know. There are so many sacred cows and profitable enterprises bound up with the tax code, it will never change.

Dick Armey worked very hard trying to simplify the tax code. Nothing changed

The tax code monstrosity is one of the most powerful tools in a politician's arsenal. Reward your friends and punish your enemies. It's a corrupt and filthy system, but it will never get tossed unless and until the populace demands it. I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen..
