Decent paying jobs are afforded to those who have desirable and moderately scarce skills that match the needs of the market. Too many people think they have a degree or skills, and the market owes them a job. Well, sorry. That's not the way the free market works.

If you have a high school education and drive a forklift for $70k/year, you need to know you're living in a dream that's paying you double what you should be earning for that set of skills.

I always tell young people the reason you get an education or learn a trade is to give yourself options in life. The reason you keep your skills relevant to the marketplace is to give you options in life.

In the workplace, those with the most life options will generally win.
