Ted, > However, a majority of economists believe something like that must be done to save the economy. I tend to go with the majority opinion if it makes factual sense and is logical. You?

I realize I'm in the minority, but the majority is only unified in their agreement that we all have to "do something."

When you ask them what exactly needs to be done, you get all sorts of responses. I pointed this out to you before. My belief is that half of what's being proposed out there is guaranteed to be worse than doing nothing.

That leaves the proposals that make sense and that I can live with, including the re-securitization of the banking industry. But it's hard to say whether anyone in Washington really gets it, especially when I listen to the usual suspects like Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.
