The bankers aren't requiring you to pay the bailout bill either, again the government is. But that hardly implies any magical resolution. I don't see anything magical about higher debt, and eventual higher taxes and/or inflation. It just that the force comes from the government not the banks.

They lobby for special favors, and they can rightfully be condemned for that along with the other problems they helped create, but the actual bail out bill imposed by government, even if the banks ask for it, its the government that's actually doing it.
