Yes, I recall our conversation.

There are some good applications for the limited power you can gain from the small area for solar collection. Of course the payoff will only happen in areas that have a Zone 1-3 sun rating. Places like Michigan at Zone 5 probably can't provide much return. We have that damn cloud that rolls in around October and stays until March.

I think the breakthrough will be with thin film solar that can be embedded into the vehicle panels, be those composite, plastic, or even some type of as-yet-undeveloped airborne coating over steel. A lot more collection area at a potentially much lower cost.
