Cymer Shrs Stumble On Weaker Q1 Forecast
Posted by Eric Savitz

Cymer (CYMI) shares have taken a tumble this afternoon following disappointing guidance for Q1.

For Q4, Cymer posted revenue of $100.5 million and net income of 13 cents a share; the Street had been looking for $99.6 million and 15 cents. The company last month had forecast revenue of $100 million.

However, for Q1, the producer of lasers used in chip manufacturing said it now sees revenue down 45% sequentially, plus or minus 5%. Previously, Cymer had forecast a sequential drop of 30%-35%. The new forecast suggests revenue of $55.2 million, well below the Street consensus of $70 million. The new outlook suggests revenue will be down 55% from a year ago.
