I agree, HW provides better performance than SW today. However, most of the experts (those included on this thread included) have a much better eye on performance than the average consumer. Remeber the 80-20 rule? Well, all of the experts are the 20% and the average consumer is 80% (me included, I am into marketing, not tech/engin./etc.). Most people will never know if HW or SW is making their DVD work and they won't care.

All I want to do is evaluate both HW & SW (without a bunch of childish one liners), hope they both help DVD's acceptance into the marketplace and we all win. There is no reason to say one is better than the other. Given time, the power of the PC will run SoftDVD just as good as HW, in the eyes of the average consumer! Regardless of what the experts say today. Tommorrow is where DVD is, don't you agree?
