That's odd. A T1 line operates at 1.5 megabits per second. Standard DSL runs at up to 1.5 megabits per second, too, and DSL speeds up to 6 mpbs are now common. Cable modems run at 10 mbps or more.

The T1 does have the advantage of giving the user the same speed for uploads as well as downloads, but it's still not faster than DSL or cable overall.

But WiMax is still cool. I hope it becomes more common.
