I agree but he has to be careful.....he runs the risk of looking like a doormat. Case in point is the Gregg nomination. I think Gregg really fukked Obama on this one. This is part of the PR put out by the WH this afternoon:

"Senator Gregg reached out to the President and offered his name for Secretary of Commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace, and move forward with the President's agenda.... We regret that he has had a change of heart."

Clearly, the WH is annoyed.

Hopeless it may be. But, people are noticing. He polls well for bipartisanship. The Republicans though, don't.

So, if he can't actually get Republicans onboard, the next best thing is getting credit for trying. Which he is. The ball is now in the Republicans court. Either they start behaving like adults and join in to help, or they sulk in the corner and keep losing ground.

Making up stuff about what is in the bill is not going to win them points.
