I think folks on the left are sometimes naive re: the nature of the threat to the nation as well as too keyed up regarding success of social engineering by govt. Having said that, i am for the stimulus because of the bleak situation we are in and think that bush overstepped on FP and so far obama has it about right. "Never negotiate out of fear but never fear to negotiate". For example. Prying iran away from its isolationism and rejectionism is worth the try. We share common national interests regardless of rhetoric on both sides. Same with Russia---commonality of interest stressed over differences. Play hardball. Dont look into putins soul but analyse his mind, what he is after and whats best for the USA.
