Since you had an MI, I suspect your LDL is very high in the small dense kind. An advanced Lipid panel, either NMR or VAP, would give you good info. If you are built like a wiry marathoner, I would also get a Lp(a) test.

Seems like a good suggestion. What I find appalling is that so much (money, talk, research, you name it) is driven by nearly meaningless LDL number - meaningless without particle size analysis.

I wonder what the comparison would be between 2 identical people, one LDL predominantly in large particles, and another having LDL predominantly in small. Suppose their average LDL is 100 and the LDL particle count is the same. What would their respective LDL numbers be? It may be a good question for Dr. Davis...
