I think it is an excellent project. But why cannot private enterprise do it?

If they can spend billions on City Center in Vegas, it seems like commercial developers could spend enough to put a train from LA to fill the place up.

whenever Amtrak here on the east coast ever wants to do anything it has to run it by like 37 unions, which all want something for it. Some of the unions are so out dated, going back to train days in the 1800s. That's why the trains never make any money. I think they still have a boiler union for the wood burning trains.

Probably the same way blue staters feel paying in more taxes to the feds than they get back so that the less fortunate red staters can get more.
