"If the US goes into a total "Buy American" mode, what should we expect other nations to do?" I don't think we could do that if we wanted to. We don't produce enough and import too much. We gotta get things back into some kind of balance. We are beholden to too many foreigners.

Think what would happen if China quit talking about diversifying and sold all their UST's. Now I know this mostly likely won't happen because it's not in their best interests. But, we should never have let ourselves get in this position. There is a saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." I think it could be changed to "The road to hell is paved with easy credit."

We gotta get out of this it's Christmas everyday syndrome. I suspect we got a lot more joy out of Christmas when I was a kid because we didn't get new crap everyday of the year. Having something to look forward to isn't a bad thing. Working and saving for things isn't a bad thing. Madison Avenue has enslaved several generations. Stuff never gave anyone lasting happiness, quite the contrary. It's all about money and greed.

LOL! I seem to have gotten off the track here.

One way is to just devalue the dollar... Then the world will find US products and services more affordable. Also, Americans will use the world's resources (oil) more carefully.

>America needs to regain its export markets... the only way to do that (without getting into trade wars) is to compete.>
