Re: "G.W. Bush and Republicans tried to bring awareness of an impending financial crisis in 2002"

A crisis they were *causing* by refusing to bring spending down (after reducing government revenue), putting an entire trillion dollar war on 'the national credit card', etc.

They were warned CLEARLY at that exact point-in-time (2001 - 2002) by the CBO and NUMEROUS private econometrics firms (even the one the WH hired to vet it's tax proposals with an eye out to 'assuming' higher revenues would be produced by the lower tax rates....)

All the major analysis warned them that --- UNLESS THEY REDUCED FEDERAL BORROWING --- that *all* the beneficial effects they'd produce from lowering tax rates would be WASHED AWAY by the middle of the decade... and that, eventually, the piper would have to be paid.

Economically illiterate (or else just cynical or distracted) they ignored all the calls to reduce spending and borrowing... thus engendering this crisis that now comes full blown upon us.

Anesthetizing the financial regulators probably didn't help any, either.
