The Swiss People's Party (SVP) has taken a hard-line stance against immigrants, pushed for tougher asylum laws and wants to make it easier to expel foreign nationals. But the party is part of Switzerland's broad coalition government and has never had links to neo-Nazism.

OT It has to do with how people want to present themselves to the world. The Swiss need to keep that view the world from afar think they are. They need re-inforcement for the stereotype. Not any denial of it. Here is how the stereotype goes: Germans hard working disciplined Scadinavians stylish technosavvy Americans freedom loving market oriented Brazilians fun loving French food loving Hong Kong freedom rock Real Germans have a lot of lazy people and the discipline comes from someone looking over their shoulder at all times. They discovered (after Berlin Wall fell) that Eastern German industry and its workers were the worse of the USSR block Real Scandinavians steal he brains or technology of anyone they can Real Americans love a big state and the rules put upon them Real Brazilians grey, quiet. There are people who expect me to dance!!! Real French they eat fast food like anyone in the planet Hong Kong rock is a result of inherited British business culture (all mavericks fed up with London moved there) that they cleverly kept after Brits departed. Have you noticed when the Canadians slaughtered some people during a peace keeping mission or when they killed the Polish at the airport how people reacted. That was the discovery that the reality do not agreed with the stereotype people tend to -smuggly- see themselves.
