I thought you were a big believer in the free market and now you are saying the market is wrong?

How is a 30% tax credit/grant representative of a "free market"?

How will providing $3-7K in tax credits for buying PHEV vehicles representative of a "free market"? Will they eventually offer tax credits on the replacement battery packs?

As I've told you previously, I'm a pragmtist, not an ideologue. IOW, I'm a believer in whatever works best for the least expense, or provides the greatest benefit for the cost. That naturally makes me more of a believer in free markets, but not to the extent that it chokes off economic competition in favor of MORE expensive alternatives.

Did you ever take a moment to think and reflect that your addiction to non-reliable AND MORE EXPENSIVE alternative fuel/energy production might be inhibiting the forces of progress towards a viable and long-term domestic energy strategy?

From what I can see, you're playing directly into the hands of those powers that would like to keep us tied to an expensive and limited (thereby controllable) resource, whereas I am focused upon navigating the most direct path to a hydrogen based economy (with or without fuel cells), or algal based biofuel economy.

I would be happy with either result because it means American dollars stay at home, not going to support some dictatorship or monarchy that doesn't share any of our values.
