Dan, thanks! i give two enthusiasic thumbs up for Simon Johnson .
He was an unknown to me, but NOT now. Max

His saying this <<I think I'm signaling something a little bit shocking to Americans, and to myself, actually.>>
You know me Dan, i write to SHOCK, that is shock people into waking up.
Someone such as Simon Johnson coming forth is a big help for me to trust in my intuitional thinking.Max

Obama, recently:

" Now, I believe - I just want to repeat, because I don’t want any confusion here. I believe that legislation of this enormous magnitude, that by necessity we are moving quickly - we’re not moving quickly because we’re trying to jamb something down people’s throats. We’re moving quickly because we’re told that if we don’t move quickly, that the economy is going keep on getting worse, and we’ll have another 2 or 3 or 4 million jobs loss this year."

So who exactly are the "they" that are driving all this?

Is it GS, or as Simon Johnson implies at best a financial community puppet zeitgeist that are following script, or is it really just a financial herd running like hell in the direction the first-one-to-run took?

It is easy to see planned villainy when in fact it is just incompetent reactions. Without defending or implicating any one, it seems odd for the US prez to rely openly on un-named authority(ies).

The wise politician could at least have a list of references at hand to go with the transcript(s).

He does, at least refer to "she who must be obeyed" in terms of his own imperfections... so I have to feel that his underlying message is one of someone being reluctantly urged forward without an opportunity to sensibly survey the landscape.
