Why can't we make breaking the law illegal and put and end to this once and for all?

Here's another good idea, just like gang members get increased penalties for breaking the law in a gang activity, elected officials committing crimes should get increased penalities as well. Of course that would mean we would need to prosecute them and that's not going to happen. Martha Stewart spent 6 months in jail, did Eliot Spitzer do time? Or Geitner , or Daschle?
