I don't believe that the devil is in the details -- I think the devil is in the belief that Israel can count on US support whether it pulls the plug on settlements or expands them at will. I think the devil is in thinking that Israel can string this out as long as it likes because it has military superiority and US backing. In time, US support will wane and Israel will be nuked -- it need not end this way, but it probably will as we show no signs of saying to Israel "enough".
