The critical point is that they knew the bridge had to be replaced. The problem was they would not have the money until after 2016 or something like that. They thought their maintenance would keep the bridge sound until 2020. They were wrong. Now how many other interstate bridges build at the same time have the same design flaws. The numbers are significant. Perhaps. But these "projects", if they affected at all by the "stimulus" package, will be years off, making the expenditures anything but stimulative. How so? The stimulus package is designed to go to projects that are ready to go into construction now. That will free up local monies for projects further down the pipeline.
