Perhaps it would have kept the Ponzi scheme that is our banking system going longer

There is no bigger Ponzi scheme than Social Security.

More importantly, what Bush proposed could never have become a Ponzi scheme in the way that SS has.

At least Bush recognized the problem and did everything within his ability to do something about it. We now have a president who, within a month, has managed to make the problem far worse by adding massive new government programs that make any possibility of fiscal recovery a distant pipe dream.

What I don't understand is how people can so easily disregard the $50 Trillion in off-book debt created under the New Deal and Great Society programs, while complaining about budget deficits that are relatively small (when compared with the trillions we owe) under Bush.

I mean, I'm not a fan of deficit spending, AT ALL. But I also believe one has to look at the big picture and not get lost on the immaterial items.

You're confused about what Bush proposed, obviously. But even had it been done the amount of money on deposit by this time would still be reasonably small by comparison with what Obama is blowing in this obscene spending bill.
