I've been reading a number of predictions from many quarters as to the societal shifts (positive ones) which may occur if we move through this disaster in the best way possible --a bit like steering the sinking Titanic through icebergs, I know. The prediction that interests me the most is that there may be a resurgence of creative thought in the US, as well as its reestablishment closer to the center of American life.

I think the first glimmer of this prediction coming true is now appearing in the nonfinancial press-- in pieces like these which pull together many of the disparate facts and toss in some new ways of thinking about our future.
