I'll butt in and put in my $.02. Cary Salsberg on the "Buy Semi-
Equips when blood is in the streets" thread is suggesting that people
that aren't currently in AMAT wait until their earnings and conference
call to take new positions. Cary was buying AMAT at a split-adjusted
$12 just last year (as well as a bunch of other semiconductor
equipment manufacturers at 0.3-0.5 of current prices), so I consider
his advice to be worth listening to if nothing else.

Coincidentally, I also bought AMAT at $12 back in July 96 (my first
trade-pure luck), and sold for the princely sum of $16. I know a
profit is a profit, but that decision doesn't look too good now,
does it? <g>
