As I've always understood it that while under fractional reserve lending, the actualy "money supply" can in theory increase at crazy ratios, all of that money isn't simultenously spendable. To stay as "money supply" it has to stay in bank accounts. If it isn't spendable to keep the money supply maxed, it can't create inflation.
