The Republicans are following the '92 playbook. They opposed Clinton at every turn, claimed his budget would send us back into recession, explode the debt, lose jobs, etc. They were wrong of course, but they had a great election in '94.

Will it work again? So far Obama and the Democrats are going up in the polls while the Republicans continue to sink. We're in a serious crisis and the public may not be in any mood for gamesmanship and rhetoric from the Republicans this time around. Obama is more popular than Clinton was. And Obama was elected with solid majority whereas Clinton won a 3 way race with 43% of the vote.

There's a good chance the Republicans are making a serious miscalculation with their obstruction tactic, a miscalculation that will push the party further into disgrace, oblivion and exile. But only time will tell.

Oh really? See how Time magazine added Bill Clinton to the list of 25 people most to blame for the mess.
