I don't want to look it up right now, but I believe I read in Alan Greenspan's autobiography that he thought SS was a worthwhile program and that it wouldn't take that much to fix it.

Medicare, imo, is a big problem. But I think a lot of it can be fixed by reforming healthcare in terms of getting rid of inefficiencies, duplications (redundancies), and errors. In the best of all possible worlds, perhaps major breakthroughs in technology would help - lower cost MRI and robotic surgery.

The revenue side of the equation would still be a huge problem.

In any case, if we are not able to solve this problem all at once, we have to start somewhere.
