Fascinating debate on CNBS about the Sabeiour's home plan....

Haynes hanging tough on moral hazard, getting assailed on all sides with complaints that "we've got to do something about falling home prices". I predict mortgage cramdowns will further weaken the market. Who in their right mind wants to invest in mortgages when the principal can be crammed down anytime a judge feels like it?

Home prices were close (6-12 months) to reaching equillibrium through the free market and foreclosure auctions. This bill will push the bottom out another year......thus prolonging GD2.
