"As a marketer, I like to have options to sell people. However, Dave feels it neccessary to "talk down" to all those who are less knowledgable (technically speaking) intead of simply pointing out his opinions. I have never posted "condecending" messages to anyone on this thread regarding Cube's direction and focus. " If that ain't "condecending"... (NTV) plans to adopt a combination of high-definition and ordinary television formats for digital broadcasting via broadcasting satellite (BS), a senior managing director of the Tokyo-based TV network said Thursday. NTV will put the plan into practice when BS-based digital broadcasting gets fully under way in 2000, Seiji Urushido said during a panel discussion by commercial broadcasters held in the city of Fukuoka in Japan's southern main island of Kyushu. The plan envisages airing high-definition TV programs during set hours in a day and ordinary programs through three channels for the rest of the day, Urushido said. One of the three channels is expected to specialize in news reports. BS-based digital broadcasting can create one high-definition TV channel and three ordinary TV channels on the same frequency. BillyG, You are a closet Marketer aren't you? Again, technically speaking I don't care what any of it does, but when IBM, INTEL, Compaq, etc get into the game, I pay attention. For the last time, I agree HW is better than SW today. Who knows where tomorrow will bring us! I just don't understand why people feel they must go out of their way to try and negatively influence people as to the viability of one technology versus another. Be honest now, do you really think that the average consumer is buying computers to watch DVD movies...NOT! We are talking PC's here and the above listed giants in the PC industry seem to think SoftDVD is acceptible for the PC market today. That is why I initially chose Zoran versus Cube as an investment. However, I like what I have seen and read about Cube and you are definately postioned well for the settop box market and once I see that move, I will probably buy up some Cube. Happy trails to you......John
