Oil sands?

There is a lot of oil in the Bakken, but it is not cheap to produce. From what I've read, it needs $60/bbl to be viable.

It's not oil sands, just a very deep, thin, low pressure field that wasn't technically feasible prior to horizontal drilling.

Very expensive to get that sand/shale oil, need $60 a barrel to make it viable, and the stuff is very hard to refine, much less push through pipelines, and on top of all that it generates 30-40% more pollution overall than just plain old crude oil from ground to tank.

That won't fly with the Obama peeps.
