To the contrary.

I know where the problem is and I choose to avoid it for myself.

But to your larger point, one who carefully reads the financial statements of a bank has a pretty good idea what the exposure is.

Where I live it takes a very long time for economic problems to hit home. For example, I just noticed they have just started building additional houses in the subdivision behind where I live.

My brother has a fast food joint and he tells me their sales are breaking records every month. I think he expects to do something like $1.5M this year, which is excellent. My business is far better than ever. My daughter, who is just getting her business started, is adding new clients weekly and has her available hours almost 3/4 filled, up from 1/4 a year ago. And physicians don't tend to get hit too hard when the economy sucks. So, I'm lucky I guess, but I'm just not seeing it.
