Why oh why did I buy a house I could afford and put 30% down on and then stupidly continue making payments. Why.

It is so very hard to imagine what kind of brain (???) it takes to even contemplate putting any of the employees of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mack back in charge of major mortgage money again!

Heard today that Franklin Raines got $90,000,000 in 6 years of being Head of Fannie Mae….Why isn’t this being investigated if the Dems want to examine some of what happened in the last Adm… They will find that the Republicans talked about the need of doing something at once to clean up the mess that was coming…Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and the other Dems didn’t want to push any such investigation.

And yet....The President and his merry band of followers are pushing...

Government subsidies for lenders to modify loans to homeowners who are struggling to make payments. The government would subsidize the difference.

A program through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for homeowners to refinance their mortgages if they owe more than their homes are worth.

An effort to make loans more affordable through various means—extending loans, lowering interest rates, and other ways.

Here’s the link that that was mentioned in the article you posted: Peter Wallison: The Roots of the Financial Crisis: How government created economic turmoil
