I never liked the cost of Iraq but pretty much think Afghanistan was unavoidable. Here is an interesting inflation adjusted chart showing Federal tax revenue increases going back to 1965. You keep bringing up Bush, but tax receipts under him only dipped during the first 3 years then went right back up again.
