Well, everything is a speculation, but if the slide in gold holds and the stock markets are sinking, the fed would be doing something very risky to raise interest rates.

But I really don't care because that would send stocks down all the faster. And this flight to safety seems to be taking place.

I think we're headed towards some variant of the Japanese situtation. Let's hope the cure isn't to start a war. As much as I hate the idea of letting deadbeats off, the country may have to bail the banks out of their home equity loans just to keep everyone from getting hung up in a morass of debt. That would be inflationary.

No end to it all, is there?
