ANNAPOLIS, MD--(MARKET WIRE)--Feb 19, 2009 -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NasdaqGM:TSYS - News), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications, today announced that it has received an additional $5.6 million of funding from the U.S. Army to provide additional Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) Satellite Systems, and an assortment of Data Packages, Forward Deployed Spares and Field Service Engineers. These systems will support ongoing operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. This is part of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Life Cycle Management Command (CECOM LCMC) order that was announced in August 2008, with a potential value of $246 million, and brings TCS SNAP funding to date to $43.9 million.
