Brinker has explained the elements of his model many times, and they don't bear much resemblance to technicals. Based on his past comments, the buy levels he gives when his model is already bullish are for people with new money to invest after the market has risen from his model's change from bearish to bullish. In those circumstances he usually recommends a dollar cost averaging approach for new money, but when he switches from that to a buy level, it seems to be mainly a "buy the dips" approach rather than anything technical. He has said on numerous occasions that he doesn't believe in chart reading as a forecasting tool.

BTW, I appreciate your posts because, rather than just belaboring the obvious about Brinker's shortcomings, you talk about approaches to investing that you have found to be successful.
