Real Estate report from Naples, sort of. Judging by the picture, this is a new home, probably a Sullivan spec home. They used to sell turnkey homes in this price range with completely stocked wine cellars and a chef flown in your first night for dinner. Now where are all those hedgies who used to snap these up to impress their trophy whatever.

Reports from the front on today’s market.

Want a Bentley with a Port Royal Mansion?

During tough times, everyone’s offering incentives. When I heard that a Bentley GT Convertible is part of the package in a $11.9 million estate home on Galleon Drive, I jumped in my Camry and beat it over there. After all, who doesn’t need a new car?

The main attraction in this showpiece home is, you guessed it, the view. To take in every bit of Naples Bay, the entire back of the home is filled with floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s easier to envision the character of a place when it’s furnished, and in that regard this one left a bit to the imagination.

Even so, all 8,100 square feet of it were chock-full of every imaginable architectural embellishment, from stone and wrought iron balconies, a stone-lined cylindrical stairway, a metal spiral staircase, custom wrought-iron banisters, exotic marble and a sunken grand salon. Even the catering kitchen is decked out in marble and gorgeous cabinetry. The laundry sports mirrored doors a la Versailles!

Traffic was brisk at the Premier Properties-hosted, Sunday afternoon open house with more than 60 stopping by in four hours. Most likely a good percentage were neighbors, I was told, as community regulations prohibit signs on Gordon Drive. Even in the absence of unsightly signage, in the past 12 months, 24 multi-million dollar homes sold in the desirable neighborhood.
