>> It wont help much now. Stimulus must come from the consumer. Business wont spend on spec and banks more often than not wont lend at all. Only when cash moves toward business from consumers will this begin to change---along with stabilization in housing and banking system.

I don't understand how you guys promote an FDR New Deal-styled game plan right now and at the same time it must come from consumers.

FDR's solution to the depression wasn't paying people to sit at home (while he did create unemployment insurance as part of the New Deal, it wasn't effective until later). FDR put them to work.

I'm fine with the government putting people to work, and at the same time providing stimulus to business.

But the stimulus bill simply did NOT provide anything of this nature. It is primarily paying people to stay home.

He calls it "protecting the vulnerable" ($81B) and "health care" ($59B and "education and training" ($53B) and "state and local fiscal relief" $144B. Out of all this so-called stimulus, we do get some tax benefits, although this will largely be targeted at people with no money to spend, and we get a small amount of Infrastructure (enough to do very minimal maintenance on Roads and Bridges).

This bill is the worst piece of legislation I've seen. In every respect. And it was passed because Obama applied big time scare tactics.

It is no surprise people are scared shitless about losing their jobs.
