Put in any starting location in the US (say, Miami or Bangor) into google maps with a destination in HI. It'll give you directions to Seattle, then tell you to kayak 2,756 miles to HI. For laughs, tell it you want to walk. It will give you detailed walking directions - every street and highway to turn on. If you pick a destination in AK, it will give you directions through Canada though as opposed to telling you to kayak to Anchorage. Mapquest doesn't have the same sense of humor.
