They were the bulk of it. As they are the bulk of it now, after decades in which other countries, which used to have a similar level of wealth have developed. Cuba was not wealthy except by Latin American standards. More wingnuttery to convince the world that Cuba is much worse off under Castro than Batista. I don't think Castro has done a great job but the bottom rung of people are better off than they were under Batista.
