The president's negativity is a problem. But honestly, the stimulus bill was atrocious. It just isn't what is needed. They (congress/obama) pushed through this massive liberal agenda but failed to accomplish what was needed -- well-placed government spending that would bootstrap the economy.

It really comes down the argument between CJ and me yesterday -- to stimulate the economy, what do you want to do -- stimulate business which will put some people to work, create productivity and put more people to work, creating an upward sprial, or do you just pay people to sit at home and consume. It is a classic liberal versus conservative point of view.

You say I want to let them eat cake and that just isn't true. But I don't want them sitting at home watching Oprah. If the government is going to spend money it needs to get something in return.

I am disgusted at the lack of infrastructure spending in this bill. Tejek was around here for days talking about how this bill would contain all this infrastructure spending and it turns out the amount is so low they have to combine it with "Science" to avoid embarrassment on the issue.

I'm not of the mind the economy is beyond recovery, however, this bill does little. Personally, I believe our economy has shown itself time and again to be highly resilient, and I think we might have been better off without the stimulus bill.

FDR's spending was very measured. This legislation was terrible.
