Bank continue to be amongst the most heavily regulated American businesses.

But when you talk about "bank regulation", it is totally meaningless if you're not specific as to what you want to see more heavily regulated. Capital requirements? Lending Practices? Ownership? And what about those do want to see more heavily regulated, specifically.

Just shouting, "We need more regulation" is pretty stupid if you don't talk about specifics. "More regulation" as a general concept is never a good thing. You have to think about it terms of the problems that need to be solved.

Now, specifically, WHAT do you want to change that would have affected the current crisis?
