Even better, does the DVD have a big black X centered on a violet/black starry background?

If it doesn't and it's gray instead, it ain't no retail DVD of OS X 10.5, it's a DVD that is included in the box of a new Mac.

Retail Box Version - Yes purple background. I know the difference and I got the original owner started on Macs and he's spent thousands on his obsession with Apple.

It is supposed to install on my machine from everything I've read and I'm 99.9% sure Apple supports it on my machine.

So if I bought it directly from Apple they would support the install for 90 days. I'm not asking for support or time, just an inexpensive replacement for a defect that they replaced for other people.

I think whether they have the legal obligation is moot. They should just look at me as a potential customer for much larger purchases, and the guy I bought it from. It costs them virtually nothing to print a disk and my copy is valid.

It seems like common sense as opposed to corporate rules. Apple has always been the alternative to Microsoft's "inflexible rules no matter how stupid culture." It's part of the aura of Apple. When they should they do - even if it's not explicit in the legal sense.

Hey they won't lose a customer, I'm not going Microsoft, but... they lose goodwill. Word of mouth.

Sheech how much is that worth when it's a big mouth Mac supporter like me? More than $2. Well I'll try either Monday or Wednesday. We'll see if Apple has adopted Microsoft's "inflexible rules no matter how stupid culture" mentality.
