A guy I knew growing up ended up working in a hotel in Reno. Every payday, he'd cash his check at the casino. They'd give him a $5.00 chit and he's match it with his own money. He'd go in and play slots or some other low cost diversion. If he won, he kept going. If his $10 ran out, he'd leave. That's the way to gamble - know what you're willing to lose and stop when you lose it.
