L2S, i readily admit much of the problem is external to the teachers. CA is a satellite welfare educational system for mexico - and it isn't easy to teach kids who don't speak the native tongue. that's the main reason why LA Unified has a 50% drop out rate.

should a teacher make more than a similarly experienced engineer?

i guess some people think so - and their taxes will continue to increase until our state income tax is 13-15% on top of the soon to be increasing national tax, our state sales tax tops 10% and our car taxes approach 2%.

there won't be anything left.

as i said, i can live in that environment much better than most folks and i'm happy to pick up prime real estate for pennies on the dollar as floods of people leave this state and default on their mortgages in disgust.

if i lose my job, i'm probably gone out of state, too. either that or i'll pay off my mortgage and live very little sucking up services like so many other people.

there is no way for the state to win doing what they are doing - and they will die a slow, very painful death.

i also like how they did most of the tax raising on the poor and middle class.
