Forbid folks from walking away. Determine their income and set payments on a percentage of that so that they can stay as essentially renters until we are out of the woods. Banks will still get something. Folks who enter into this can pay at the percentage rate of income forever if they want or can strike a deal with the bank to refi at a lower rate or even with reduced principal owed. I dunno how it would work but smart folks can figure this out. Unfortunately govt will make a mess of this. So farm it out to me and i will immediatley hire Ted to bring me coffee in the morning. Then we can get to work.
