Even if Obama follows on his plan to slash the deficit in half by 2013, he will have added more to the deficit in nominal, and probably real dollars than any other president, and more as a percentage of GDP than Bush. This early in his presidency he's already signed bills that will add about a trillion to the deficit (really more, since its very unlikely that new government programs and organizations created by the stimulus bill will really be temporary)
