That a so-called newsman would make a statement like that about a presidential candidate he is supposedly covering dispassionately may not be cynical but it definitely promotes cynicism.

In people like you a positive statement promotes cynicism, while near hate speech like that practiced by extreme right wing radio promotes fulfillment and joy...i think that's called mental illness.
