BB,

I can echo that with conviction.

A decade or so ago, when I first got into the market, I deferred to professionals time after time, because I didn't think I knew what I was doing (I mean, I might have sunk the money into some high risk company like one called "Microsoft" -- they make DOS for the IBM PC; heard of them? ....). I got killed time after time by highly confident big-name firms. The best results came from a highly-recommended Fortis "Aggressive Growth" mutual fund, from which I gained (I don't know) maybe 2% a year over a 5 year period.

Then I got smart, dumped it, and relied on my own tech knowledge, research, and boards like these to shift my IRA into AMAT, and even with the recent collapse, and even with Fortis being very slow to let my money out of the MF so that I couldn't buy AMAT when I -decided- to buy (at 11 -- if only I knew when to sell! :^I), I've done very well.

You know what it takes to be an "expert"? A suit, a business card, and a phone at a brokerage firm.

Big Bucks, I think you did not buy yet from 35 to 30; that you are now waiting for 25 so that you can double your money when the stock hits 50 in Jan, am I right?...We Bears and Bulls both got a thrill of a scary ride today: the Bulls got scared in the morning and the Bears in the afternoon. That's fair enough...

"AMAT at 50 in Jan 98"
You mean early in 1998?
This stock will definitely double and be in the $70 range
in 12 months.
This stock has gone so high so quick that portfolio managers are
trying to lock in great returns for 97.
Remember they are judged on a yearly basis.
This stock will double from the low it is now
by next October.
I am betting on it. Just bought a heap and will buy more if it goes
lower.
Don't you just love sale prices on great stocks?
Hold tight!
