I'm not surprised, although I don't remember it at the time.

Mt. Mazama was an even bigger eruption, about five or six thousand years ago. We got a nice national park out of it, though.

We had Mount St. Helen's ash, in significant amounts, here in the Denver area. I recall coming out of a shopping center with my wife and wondering what the heck was all over all the cars.

Best way to remove that off a car is get a damp towel and just rub it off with a circular motion. <ggg>
