It isn't going to happen, so I don't really see why you are concerned over it. Actually, it already HAS happened -- if you'll recall, before Newt Gingrich brought about the end of welfare in 1996, it was strangling the country. Obama has already taken us back to where we were at that time, perhaps beyond, in his first month. We are a nation of sucklers now. We suckle at social security, at medicare, at medicaid, now this new free health insurance program, at food stamps, at welfare, at hidden welfare within the tax code (e.g., EITC), unemployment benefits funded by those who are working, mortgages of the irresponsible paid by the responsible, the list goes on ad nauseum. It HAS happened. Sure, it can and will get worse. But ultimately, the house of cards will collapse under its own weight if we don't get some responsible leadership.
